Local Christmas Shopping Guide
We’ve all heard the phrase “shop local” and what better time to exercise this initiative than during Christmas time? It’s the season where consumers go crazy and there are so many benefits to supporting the small guy instead of big box stores.
Be prepared with cool, unique gifts for your loved ones before the holiday season arrives. Here’s a list of local places to get your Christmas shopping done in Regina.
The heart of the city, downtown Regina, has an awesome amount of local shops to check out. Whether you’re strolling down 13th Ave, or maybe 11th Ave across from the Cornwall, there’s definitely something for everyone’s taste. A few of our suggestions include:
Find gifts for the nerd on your list. This store is located on 13th Ave and it has a ton of paper-related gifts (including pens) and lots of other local trinkets.
This lively tea shop can also be found on 13th Ave, almost right next door to Paper Umbrella. To say there are tons of teas to choose from would be an understatement. This is not your run of the mill chain store. The owner carefully selects places from around the world to order specialty teas.
This unique fashion store carries a variety of clothing and accessories for women and now offers two locations: on 13th Ave and Quance St in the east end.
There are a few local shops to check out, but Mortise & Tenon made our list for its variety of gift items. Think “Saskatchewan gift shop.” This store carries local gifts, themed socks, and other trinkets you didn’t realize you needed.
This store is located on Victoria Ave and features upcycled, unique thrift store finds. It’s right next door to Italian Star Deli (another great local store to shop at) where you can grab a delicious, famous sandwich to treat yourself while shopping for others. Win-win.
Also known as “The Original Fashion House,” this trendy store also offers fashion finds for women. Be sure to monitor their Facebook page for formal Christmas outfits.
Tis the season for craft sales! If you’ve ever been to a craft sale during the winter months, you already know how crazy they can be. If you don’t get there on the first day, during the first hour of the doors opening, you run the risk of getting trampled. BUT, they are an awesome option to find handmade, unique gifts that will hopefully cross off more than one person on your list.
Keep an eye on your local news channel or Facebook events for craft sale popups throughout the city. Here are a few that we found:
- Our Best To You – Nov. 9, 10, 11
- Holiday Night Markets (Farmers Market) – Nov. 29 and Dec. 13
- Christkindl Market – Nov. 24
- Handmade Sask Merry & Bright Christmas Market – Dec. 6
- Northgate Mall Christmas Market – Dec. 14
