Become A Sask Foodie In Your Ford
It’s Time to Explore
Are you a self-proclaimed foodie who loves to explore new and exciting cuisine, all while supporting local businesses? If so, you’ve come to the right place! Today we explore two small-town restaurants in Saskatchewan. Buckle up, you’re in for a tasty ride!
The Caesar Mill
The Caesar Mill located in Martensville, Saskatchewan is a pub-style restaurant that prides itself on, you guessed it, caesars. With 10 different caesars to choose from (yes 10) you can pick the one that speaks to you best.
Classic, Gin Jack Daniels, Bourbon, and Mexi are what we are calling the Tier 1 Caesar. Basic yet tasty with a snack garnish. With Tier 2 options, it gets a bit more intense. The Dill Pickler, Hot & Dirty, Bacon, and Grilled Cheese Caesars provide more flavour and more garnishes. Did someone order a side of Caesar with their grilled cheese?
The Tier 3 caesar is not for the faint of heart. The Caesar Mill is a triple Caesar featuring bacon, cheese, pickles, hot peppers, fried chicken, grilled cheese, onion rings, and a bacon cheeseburger. And it’ll only put you back a cool $40. We don’t know about you, but this definitely sounds worth it.
Once you’ve secured your tasty caesar, it’s time to dive into the Munchies (aka starters). Opt for the German Pretzel salted with and served with mustard or the Cheesy Bread Planks served with marinara. Welcome to carb heaven.
Moving to mains, it’ll be a tougher decision. With a plethora of options from burgers, poutines, and salads to mac and cheese, pizza, and steaks, this menu is your oyster. When all is said and eaten, you’ll be able to check this spot off of your Sask Foodie Tour bucket list!
How to get there? The fastest way to get there is to Follow SK-11 N to SK-12 N in Corman Park No. 344 and then to continue on SK-12 N. Drive to Centennial Dr, S in Martensville. It’s about a 275km journey and a 2 hour and 53-minute drive.
Trigo Food & Drink
Trigo Food and Drink located in Lafleche, Saskatchewan is embracing a new concept of dining in the wake of COVID-19. They will be curating a new menu every three months to showcase and explore international cuisines. The line up for this year is as follows: Italian, Mexican, Thai, and French. Their Italian menu will feature a number of ingredients sourced from Italy. From vegetables and cheeses to pasta and oils, no morsel of authenticity has been overlooked.
The 4-Course Tasting Menu is promised to be even more palatable than it sounds. The first course starts with soup. Choose from Minestra di Orzo or Pappa al Pomodoro. Next, you’re onto the salads. Choose from Fennel & Red Onion or Fregola.
Once your stomach has warmed up, you’ll be ready to tackle one of three entrees options. Lasagna Alla Bolognese, Chicken Francese, or Mushroom Ravioli with Salsa di Noci. Yes, each sounds just as mouth-watering as the next, so choose wisely. We hope you’ve still got room because the fourth and final dessert course is going to be a tough decision between Semifreddo or Tiramisu. Cue tastebud explosion.
Once you’ve experienced this insane four-course meal, we’re pretty sure that you’re going to be counting down the days until you can go back for the next leg of the food tour. Hola Mexico! The Italian menu is on now and will be featured until April 24, 2021.
How to get there? The fastest way to get there is via Saskatchewan’s Highway of Heroes and SK-2 S. It’s about a 204 km journey and will take you approximately two hours and ten minutes.
