CAPITAL CARES CLOTHING GIVEAWAY

Capital Cares and partners are holding our 3rd annual clothing giveaway. The event will be held on March 7th 2010 at Rosemont Community School.

Our Capital Cares campaign will start February 1st 2010. With the help of the staff and family of the Capital Automotive Group and together with the Rosemont community we are collecting donations new and used items.

Donations can be dropped off at any Capital Automotive business (Capital Pontiac Buick Cadillac GMC, Capital Ford Lincoln, Universal Collision Centre, McKenzie Sales and Leasing and Thrifty Car and Truck Rental) or directly to Rosemont Community School. We are specifically requesting - clothes (children and adult), footwear, and sporting goods.  We are also graciously accepting toys, school supplies, books and money donations. Distribution of items will be held on March 7th from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm and will take place at Rosemont Community School, located at 841 Horace Street in Regina.

Here's a few photos of the truck we've set up for donations and some from previous clothing drives.

Capital Cares needed your support to help out kids, and their families, in need.

Donations - excluding hats & clothes - were being collected for the Santa Store in the back of the F-150 in our showroom.

Capital Ford staff members and their families along with our customers have donated a lot of wonderful presents. We were collecting gifts for all ages, from infants to grandparents. Monetary gifts were also welcomed. Once the gifts were all categorized, the students then "shop" in the school gymnasium. The cost for "shopping" is $2.00 per family, regardless of the number of gifts that are purchased. If students do not have any funds they are not turned away.

We thank those who have donated and thank you in for your support,

Capital Cares Committee

"We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give."
Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

Capital Ford Lincoln has collected many donations already from customers, staff members and their families.
Our goal was to fill the box of the 2008 F-150 Boyd Coddington Edition truck with Christmas presents. We have met our goal and have delivered the presents to Rosemont School.

Capital thanks everyone who has donated to the Rosemont School Santa Store. It no doubt created a very Merry Christmas for many!

Capital Cares has entered into partnership with Rosemont Community School! Along with principal John Finlayson and vice principal Lisa Frei we will be working with the school to provide volunteers, donations and participate in school events anyway we can.

The first of those events was a lunchtime BBQ for the students! See some great photos just below.

The second event was to ask the Rosemont school students to design the "NEW LINCOLN." The contest winners will have their design published in the Regina Leader Post as a mock advertising campaign with Capital Ford Lincoln. All staff have been asked to vote for their favorites. Each vote costs a donation to the Capital Cares Foundation which in turn will have the funds used to assist the school with lunch programs. The contestants designs are displayed by some great photos just below.

Ford is proud of its 13-year National Sponsorship of the Komen Race for the Cure. To date, Ford has dedicated more than $90 million to the cause. Together with Ford our commitment runs well beyond raising funds. We know that awareness leads to early detection and early detection saves lives, together with Ford we are working to increase breast cancer awareness--last year Ford created over one billion media impressions. The warriors in pink program is a wonderful cause and extends to the Mustang - Warriors in Pink edition. Warriors in Pink wear are available from our parts department with all proceeds going towards breast cancer research and awareness.

Ford Motor Company and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are proud global partners.

JDRF's Walks are family-friendly, held at great locations, and feature plenty of entertainment, food, and fun. Our Capital Cares group was among the 500,000 people at one of 200 Walk sites nationwide this year, making a difference in the lives of people with type 1 diabetes. We had  a great time, got some exercise, and, most importantly, became a part of the cure!

It's up to us to make it happen, one step at a time! Check out the JDRF national spokesperson speak on this great mission just below.
